This recently converted stone and timber clad barn sits on a hidden slope in the grounds of a Somerset longhouse at Greater Brimley Farm. With a large living space, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and its own patio and cottage garden it's the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Brimley barn is set in 7.5 acres of garden and farmland where Nick and Sarah Burns-Cox have lived in the farmhouse with their family for 11 years. No longer a working farm the property still has plenty of animals around, with sheep and sometimes pigs in the fields, and chickens Geraldine and Daisy in the yard.

Located in the small village of Kittisford, in the Brendon hills on the Devon/Somerset border, the barn is surrounded by beautiful views with plenty of country lanes for local walks and cycle rides.

For a family day out there are beaches at Exmouth or Brean, Crealy Adventure Park or the West Somerset Railway. Alternatively, enjoy Taunton Museum, Dunster Castle or great shopping in the Cathedral city of Exeter.

It's also a good base for more challenging cycling (including the infamous Crowcombe and Porlock climbs) or walking with Exmoor National Park, the Quantocks and the Blackdown hills all within 10 miles. For easier cycling nothing beats the towpath along the Great Western Canal, or enjoy the slower pace of the horse-drawn barge from Tiverton.

For sailing and watersports Wimbleball Lake is close by, or head for the North Devon coast for great surfing at Woolacombe and Croyde.

Garden lovers will enjoy the stunning Cothay Manor is just down the road, with National Trust properties Knightshayes and  Killerton, and RHS Rosemoor in nearby Devon. Somerset is also home to Gertrude Jekyll's Hestercombe House Garden, Margery Fish's East Lambrook Manor Garden and Lytes Cary Manor to name but a few.
